You will be forgiven if you haven’t heard of a town called Walgett. It is a small, regional town in New South Wales with a population of only about 2000 people. But thanks to an amazing woman named Katie Murray from “Stones Throw” café and homewears store in Walgett, you may now have heard of Walgett.
Katie was instrumental in bringing new life to drought ravaged Walgett through the Buy From the Bush campaign in 2019. It was a simple choice for us to name our custom designed bag after Katie’s home town of Walgett to celebrate her success with helping bring much needed attention to rural Australian towns.
Walgett’s arrival is in time for Christmas and scarlet red was the perfect colour to celebrate the festive season in style. Crisp red and white gingham, complimented with bright pink stitching. The red reminiscent of the dust of summer, drought, or the red cattle but pink definitely for Katie.
